Aye, indeed. But it's more or less FFXI without EXP. Seen the screenshots for the races yet? They've got Humes, Elvaan, Mithras, Tarutaru's and Galkas. They've just given the races new names... It dissapoints me a bit actually.

After playing FFXI for over a year and putting a shit load of work in...(ecause it is hardwork)im gonna see how this pans out. Does look nice but it should be called "FFXI 2" same races, same mobs etc. THe new tarus look like telly tubby characters Maybe ill go,but it will have to be shit hot and not too easy as id get bored! Thing about FFXI is it makes you work so hard and rewards you well, im not into WOW if its anything like that i wont be playing it! Another thing is all the moron prats who are new and start shouting random crap and insults LOL! Ive seen a good few come and go on FFXI so i am sure they will be there giving it the old crap!

I didn't make it into the beta, but I was able to pre-order the Collectors Edition pretty damn cheap, so you'll probably see me in there.

I hope they take that idea and throw it far far faaaaar away before release. It doesn't fit in a game with subscriptions, and it would make goldselling very popular ingame.

Yes it's called surplus xp at the moment.

Seems to kick in around rank 14, atleast it did for me. That could be down to the amount of time I played or the rank... not sure yet.

You can still earn xp but it is at a lower rate. It won't go away unless you switch class and level something else for a couple of days.

There should be a patch up for closed betatesters now. It's got some extra things for the open beta, such as communication stuff and what-not. I haven't really looked into it

Double edit: I found http://www.ffxivvault.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2155 to be very helpful by the way. Helps you download patches waaaaay faster than with the normal FFXIV client.
